A public school teacher had enough and fought back after his own students taunted him.
According to KTVI-TV, a Richmond, Virginia, school teacher was caught on camera while his own students yelled at him as he left their classroom to walk down the hall.
In the video, one the students at Richmond’s George Wythe High yelled at the teacher, while another followed him down the hall, recording the whole ordeal.
The teacher tried to hold out as long as possible before deciding not to take the verbal abuse. After returning to class, the teacher let the class know his true thoughts.
“I have been threatened multiple times,” the teacher screamed. “I don’t come here to put my life in danger from other people’s nonsense. I don’t go home, go to sleep, then come to work and expect to be threatened … I don’t deserve it.”
The video was posted to social media and has since gained national attention.
Now, the Richmond School Board has spoken out about the incident.
“It’s just heart-wrenching to see our employees have to endure the taunting,” board member Kim Gray said, blaming the incident on gang activity. “The level of violence ranged from capital murder of an officer, to rape and sodomy, to drug activity.”
“We’re seeing all of the gang activity within all of our comprehensive high schools,” she said. “It’s spilling into the middle schools and some of the elementary schools as well.”
Richmond Public School leaders were still investigating the incident and had not yet decided how to proceed or whether any students will be punished.
