Watch: Lib Students Meltdown When Panel Says Men and Women Aren't the Same

Share

They couldn’t bear to hear another word. Literally.

Liberal students at Oregon’s Portland State University were so outraged when a panel speaker pointed out some obvious differences between men and women that the poor darlings staged a walkout of the campus conference, then sabotaged the sound system on their way out the door.

Fortunately, adults in the room were there to set them straight – and one protester ended up facing a criminal charge.

According to The College Fix, the disruption occurred during a Feb. 17 panel discussion titled (ironically enough) “We Need to Talk about Diversity.”

Speakers included James Damore, the former Google engineer who was fired by the tech giant for writing a memo criticizing the company’s “diversity” policies.

But it was a statement by biology professor Heather Heying, who’d been driven to resign from her post by radical protesters at Washington’s Evergreen State College in December, who really had the snowflakes melting down.

Heying’s outrage? Pointing out that there are physical, undeniable and biologically created differences between the sexes that not even the most self-delusional, transgendered Democrat can deny.

“Let’s look at differences between men and women that are explicitly anatomical and physiological; are men taller than women on average? Does anyone take offense at that fact? I would say you could be irritated by it; you could be irritated by the fact that women have to be the ones who gestate and lactate; you could be irritated by a lot of truths …”

And that’s where the protesters decided to prove Heying’s point, by noisily storming from the room, and cutting the sound while they were at it.

Check out the video here.

The protesters’ behavior summed up leftist sensitivities in contemporary America. Heying, a woman who’s spent her life studying biological sciences, upset their fragile worldviews by pointing out reality.

They responded by denying reality, causing physical (if not particularly violent) damage to the tools being used to communicate that reality. And to top it off, insulted the integrity of the same people they had just assailed.

“Should not listen to fascism. It should not be tolerated in civil society,” one of the protesters told the camera. “Nazis are not welcome in civil society.”

Please.

Should protesters like this be locked up?
The only vestige of effective Nazism in American life today are young men and women like this budding Brown Shirt, and his green-haired comrade, who apparently led the walkout. (Both of them, no doubt, are studying something perniciously useless like sociology or gender queerness as opposed to the hard sciences of Damore’s engineering or Heying’s biology.)

It was fellow travelers of these ignoramuses at Evergreen State that drove Heying and her better-known husband, Bret Weinstein, from their jobs because they refused to go along with the incipient fascism that was taking over the Olympia campus. The couple have written a fascinating account of that disgrace published by the Washington Examiner. It’s a gripping picture of campus radicalism.

But the bigger lesson here is the utter refusal of these campus cultural revolutionaries to listen to, or let others listen to, a discussion about reality that’s grounded in, well, reality. Just like they couldn’t take it from Damore’s memo at Google.

Those are minds that are deliberately closed to reason and discussion.

Unfortunately, they all seem to be of voting age, are probably not felons (not yet, anyway), and will likely be heading to the voting booths come the midterm elections. And is there any doubt which party they’ll be pulling for?

The only good news out of the whole disgraceful affair, really, is that the would-be Jacobin who pulled the plug on the sound that night was cited for criminal mischief, according to The College Fix.

She’s clearly not good at listening, but maybe that will get her attention.
