Don’t drink and drive. That particular message needs to be spread more than ever during the holiday season when people may have been celebrating and think about getting behind the wheel of a car.
William Edwards, 28, is proof positive that getting drunk and getting behind the wheel is one of the most idiotic things you can possibly do. Edwards was coming out of an Orlando, Florida, strip club at 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 25 when he made the brilliant choice to drive, WKMG reported.
While some people tried to stop him, Edwards floored his pickup, promptly fell out of the truck, and got his legs run over by his own truck — which then proceed to crash into a woman’s house, injuring her while she was sleeping.
The woman was not taken to the hospital, though the damage to her home was quite significant.
Somehow Edwards managed to run away from the scene of the accident. It’s unclear how he managed to run after being run over by a massive pickup, but somehow he did.
Edwards was later found by police and arrested.
You can watch the video of the incident here:
This video should be enough to convince people that getting behind the wheel of a car while drunk is a terrible idea. Edwards could have killed someone, or himself, all because he was too stupid to listen to reason.
Even if you think you are fine to drive, don’t take the risk. Far too many people are killed by drunk drivers every year in this country, and many of those drivers probably thought they were fine to drive.
Play it safe and take a cab or call an Uber. Whatever it may cost you to pay for a ride is nothing compared to the cost you could incur if you get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
