Trump Had a Stern Message for Liberal Media's Attack on His North Korean Peace Talks

Share

President Donald Trump has apparently had enough of the media criticizing his decision to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“In the first hours after hearing that North Korea’s leader wanted to meet with me to talk denuclearization and that missile launches will end, the press was startled & amazed. They couldn’t believe it,” the president tweeted Saturday afternoon.

“But by the following morning the news became FAKE.They said so what, who cares!”

South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong announced at the White House on Thursday evening that not only has the North Korean leader invited Trump to a meeting, but the president has accepted the invitation.

After the initial shock wore off, the president came under fire for acting impulsively without thinking things through.

Critics argue Trump is giving Kim what North Korea has long desired — a chance for one of their leaders to meet with an American president as a nuclear-armed equal.

Numerous media outlets ran reports claiming the president was elevating Kim’s status on the world stage.

The White House returned fire, reminding everyone about all the favorable coverage North Korea received during the Winter Olympics and arguing that no one can elevate North Korean leadership like the media.

When the president hinted at the possible use of military force in Korea, the media panicked, urging him to reconsider the value of diplomacy.

Now that he wants to talk, the media is again freaking out.

There are unquestionably pitfalls and risks.

Do you think President Trump will be able to get North Korea to denuclearize?

Over the years, the U.S. has tried everything from threats to sanctions to paying the North Koreans to denuclearize.

The White House, according to a senior administration official, feels that perhaps it is time to try talking to the man in charge of North Korea’s authoritarian system.
