Transgender Democrat Announces Run for Congress, Then Police Show Up at Her Door

Share

A transgender woman who intended to challenge an incumbent Democrat Representative in Wisconsin may have to put her political plans on hold as she has found herself run afoul of the law in New York, according to The Daily Wire.

Juliet D. Germanotta, a 36-year-old “proud transgender woman” and self-described ordained minister, had been hoping to unseat Democrat Wisconsin Rep. Ron Kind in the state’s upcoming primary election, but instead will be facing third-degree grand larceny charges in a New York City courtroom in the near future.

According to Wisconsin’s WQOW, Germanotta was arrested on Feb. 12 by the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department after the local district attorney’s office was notified by the New York Police Department that the would-be member of Congress was wanted for allegedly committing grand larceny.

A warrant was issued which charged Germanotta with theft of property valued at more than $3,000, and she waived extradition in a court appearance on Tuesday.

According to the New York Post, the charge stemmed from her attempt to sell a ring which she had essentially stolen from a jeweler in Manhattan.

Germanotta, who ironically claimed in her campaign literature that she would keep the state “fiscally responsible by questioning expenses,” had purchased a $4,800 ring from Mikaelins Jewelry in Midtown on Sept. 19, an 18-karat yellow gold featuring Zambian emerald and diamond.

However, she soon informed the jewelry store that the ring was not to her liking and requested a refund, which she received after seemingly sending the ring back to the jeweler.

But the ring she sent back was not the real ring she had purchased, but was instead a cheap $10 replica, which Mikaelins recognized as fake on Oct. 2 and filed a complaint with the NYPD.

Meanwhile, Germanotta attempted to sell the real ring back home in Wisconsin, but when her potential buyer had the item appraised it was discovered to be listed as stolen.

Should arrests for theft automatically bar people from running for political office?

When NYPD detectives arrived at her home in Wisconsin to take her into custody and question her, she confessed to her crime, and was later transported to New York by officers to face her charge.

Reporters shouted questions at her as she was led into Manhattan’s Midtown North Precinct on Wednesday, but she declined to provide any answers.

Likewise, Mikaelins also declined to respond to requests for comment on the theft and resultant arrest.

The Post reported that Germanotta was born in Texas but was raised in New York City, and moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin at some point in the early 2000s.

The Daily Wire noted that Germanotta’s Twitter account was full of petty partisan attacks against politicians, including fellow Democrats, often by use of incredibly tacky pictures and memes, meaning she would probably have fit right in with today’s Democrat Party.

Unfortunately for her, this brush with the law will likely preclude her from running for office in this year’s election, unless of course Wisconsin Democrats want to be represented by a petty, thieving, “proud transgender woman.”

Please share this story on Facebook and Twitter to let everyone know about the transgender Democrat running for Congress in Wisconsin who know faces grand larceny charges in New York.
