Heroes come in all shapes and sizes.
That was proved yet again on May 20 when a 7-year-old boy fought back against two thugs — two armed thugs, that is — who were robbing a GameStop video game store in Silver Springs, Maryland.
According to WTTG, the boy punched one of the thugs twice before being pushed out of the way and told to lie down, along with his parents and the store employees, behind the counter. The thieves then took some cash and left the store.
You can watch surveillance video of the encounter here:
The boy’s father, who asked that he and his family remain anonymous, said he wasn’t near the boy when the thugs entered the store. He didn’t even realize why people were calling his son brave until after the event.
“We didn’t completely understand why,” the father told WTTG. “Of course, we think our son is brave and a strong kid. But we didn’t exactly know why and when we saw the tape, we saw why. Because he saw somebody who was a stranger, who seemed most dangerous to him and he tried to defend himself.
“I think it was his natural instinct taking over there,” he added.
Thankfully, no one was harmed during the robbery.
Police were still reportedly looking out for the suspects, both of whom were said to be black males in their 20s.
And they say video games are destroying our youth.
