The roughly 50,000 officers have to keep order in a city of just under 9,000,000. It hardly seems fair.
Even more unfortunately, there is little help for them, with New York keeping some of the most restrictive laws on firearm permits and concealed carry in the country.
Fortunately, during this robbery, one of these few concealed carriers was in the right place at the right time. The specific location or time of the video taken were not provided in the Facebook post, although it was uploaded on Dec. 13.
Shown in this video were two male robbers in what appear to be their mid-to-late twenties, approaching a gas station convenience store. They did not even bother to disguise their faces. They blocked a woman trying to exit and, although there is no sound, it seems fairly evident that they demanded the money from the cashier and customers in the store.
It appears that the thug in the corner was the only one armed.
Also appearing in the video, however, was a man in a leather jacket in his mid-forties. When the robbers invaded, he remained calm and kept his hands up. He observed what occurred and waited for an opening.
About 30 seconds into the video, he got his chance.
He pulled his weapon and eliminated one threat, causing the other culprit to feel the gas station — quickly.
The conceal carrier checked the body of the man he shot and then cleared the store. Not only that, but he also grabbed the assailant’s gun. Wielding dual large-frame handguns, he approached a man entering the store and lead him outside.
It was not immediately clear whether the second thug escaped.
Unfortunately, the police were not there at the time of this robbery. They rarely are. Fortunately, a responsibly armed American was, and saved the day, and possibly the lives of those in the gas station.
