If you listen to the mainstream narratives about America, you’d come away with one clear impression: The country is horribly bigoted, and discrimination is rampant against the “LGBT community.”
Of course, liberal narratives are rarely correct… and an eye-opening study just found that gays may actually have an advantage in America.
According to a study published in the Harvard Business Review, gay men earn about 10 percent more than straight men. This is true even when people with similar job experience and education are compared.

Lesbians also earn 9 percent more than straight women in the workplace. How “unfair!”
Researchers did a double take when they saw the result, but after digging into the data kept coming to the same conclusion.
“We double- and triple-checked the dataset for other patterns that would indicate some fundamental error or data problem. We found none,” Christopher “Kitt” Carpenter, Vanderbilt University professor of economics, wrote in the Harvard Business Review.

“We subjected the gay male earnings premium to a host of extra tests to see if we could make the result go away. We could not.”
In other words, the “gay advantage” seems to be very real, at least in the current American economy.
The researchers tried to discover exactly why this phenomenon is occurring, but could not narrow down an exact cause.
One possibility is that social pressures have pushed employers to promote gay employees at an accelerated rate compared to others, perhaps out of fear of being called “homophobic” if they do not.
If true, this could mean that the pendulum of “equality” has swung far from where it used to be, and is essentially favoring one group while discriminating against another: Straight people.

Of course, it could also be that gay men, who often don’t have children, are more focused and interested in career success, but the study attempted to compare people with the same job experience levels. Gays continuously came out ahead.
While the often-repeated claim about the “gender pay gap” between men and women has been repeatedly debunked, the “gay pay gap” appears to be real.
It’s interesting that leftists and the social justice crowd act as if the faux discrepancy between men and women’s pay is a national emergency, yet they don’t bat an eye at the fact that gays and lesbians make more money for the same jobs.
Apparently some kinds of unfairness and discrimination are fine, as long as demographics who tend to vote liberal are the ones winning.

The big takeaway is that the narrative that gays in this country are systematically discriminated against just isn’t true. America is a place of great opportunity for all… and if the left would stop playing identity politics and pitting different demographics against each other, everyone would benefit.
