The Delray Beach Police Department in Florida recently nabbed a suspect with the assistance of their K-9 unit. However, they had no idea of the terror and backlash that would unfold as a result.
Cellphone video posted online on Sept. 7 showed officers detaining a “drunk and disorderly” suspect who allegedly assaulted an officer and was bitten on the arm by a K-9 dog in the process.
Not long after, their dispatch department reportedly began receiving anonymous threats. One such threat called for the deaths of all officers in the department, according to WPBF.
“After what I’ve seen, I hope every single one of your officers involved dies on duty,” the man said. “I hope every single police officer in your department (expletive) dies a horrible death.”
In response, the department stated that although it has become commonplace for citizens to express violent intentions for officers, they will not allow those making threats to go unpunished. They have since launched an investigation to locate and charge the people behind the threats.
“It’s become a trend lately that people feel that they can express violent intent to law enforcement officers,” Police Chief Jeff Goldman said. “They feel like they can make these threats and that it’s OK. And they can’t.”
He said the caller was being traced and would be prosecuted.

In an age where the police community is continuously under scrutiny and the Obama administration is failing to defend them, officers face mounting obstacles on a daily basis. Threats like those the Delray Beach PD are receiving is appalling but, unfortunately, all too common.
Americans must stand tall with the officers who put their lives on the line to maintain safe streets for everyone. Though a handful of officers may be less than all we hope from them, America’s police officers deserve our respect.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter because the people making these threats must be found!
