Sanders Stuns WH Reporters with 'Greatest Achievement' of Trump Presidency

Share

Fired FBI Director James Comey is about to embark on a promotional tour for his new book which is reported to be highly critical of President Donald Trump, and the anti-Trump liberal media couldn’t be more exited about the book’s impending release.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed the topic during Friday’s briefing with the White House press pool, and pulled no punches in her characterization of the former top lawman.

“The American people see right through the blatant lies of a self-admitted leaker,” Sanders said.

“This is nothing more than a poorly executed PR stunt by Comey to desperately rehabilitate his tattered reputation and enrich his own bank account by peddling a book that belongs in the bargain bin of the fiction section,” she continued, “instead of being remembered as a dedicated servant in the pursuit of justice like so many other of his colleagues at the FBI.”

“Comey will be forever known as a disgraced partisan hack that broke his sacred trust with the president of the United States, the dedicated agents of the FBI and the American people he vowed to faithfully serve,” Sanders asserted.

“One of the president’s greatest achievements will go down as firing director James Comey.”

Not a whole lot of ambiguity as to where the White House stands in regard to Comey’s book.

The statement from Sanders struck a similar tone toward Comey as a pair of ferocious tweets Friday morning from the president, who likewise pulled no punches in a verbal assault on the disgraced former director whose anti-Trump book has been seized on by Trump’s detractors.

“James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR,” Trump tweeted. “Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the terrible job he did — until he was, in fact, fired. He leaked CLASSIFIED information, for which he should be prosecuted. He lied to Congress under OATH.”

Do you agree with Sarah Sanders that James Comey will be remembered as a disgraced partisan hack?

“He is a weak and … untruthful slime ball who was, as time has proven, a terrible Director of the FBI. His handling of the Crooked Hillary Clinton case, and the events surrounding it, will go down as one of the worst ‘botch jobs’ of history. It was my great honor to fire James Comey!”

It is worth noting that the White House isn’t taking the lead in pushing back against the assertions in Comey’s book. Instead that effort is being led by the Republican National Committee, according to the Washington Examiner.

The primary focus of that effort will be on highlighting the many “misstatements” and contradictions of Comey as well as how his “misconduct damaged the FBI’s reputation,” not to mention the heavy criticism he has received from prominent politicians and pundits from both sides of the political aisle.

It is safe to say that the statements from both Trump and Sanders are well in line with that strategy of undermining Comey’s credibility at a time when the former director is literally banking on it.
