Rachel Maddow Makes Wild Accusation About Trump's Syria Strike
President Donald Trump announced Friday night that the U.S. military had conducted precision targeted missile strikes against the chemical weapons capabilities of the Syrian regime which stands accused of using the banned weapons against innocent civilians.
While much of the civilized world supported the military action, Trump’s detractors in the media were less supportive and surmised there were ulterior motives behind the strikes than simple retaliation for using banned weapons on civilians.
One of those is Trump-obsessed MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, who suggested to her viewers immediately after Trump announced the strikes that he could very well only have ordered them to distract everyone from a number of domestic “scandals” that were dogging his administration, according to TheBlaze.
“It will affect those other countries’ view of this strike. It will affect their reaction to it,” Maddow said of the “perception” that the strikes were a mere distraction.
“It will therefore affect the utility of this military strike if the president of the United States is believed to have issued the order to launch this strike tonight, even in part because people think he wanted to distract from a catastrophic domestic scandal that is blowing up at home at the same time,” she continued. “The perception that the president may have ordered these strikes in part because of scandal will affect the impact and the effectiveness of these military strikes. Unavoidably.”
“Even if you give the president every benefit of the doubt,” she continued. “Even if his calculations about whether to launch this action against Syria tonight was taken with absolutely no regard for what else is going on in the president’s life right now … what else is going on in the president’s life right now unavoidably creates a real perception around the globe that that may have been part of the motivation for what he did and particularly for when he did it.”
Noted non-military expert Maddow also warned of dire national security “consequences” that could emanate from the precisely targeted strikes.
“It has national security consequences when the president orders missile strikes on Syria on a night like tonight,” she said. “The strategic effect of that strike will be assessed by both our allies and our enemies.”
Nor was Maddow the only member of the liberal media casting doubt and aspersions upon the president’s motives, according to the Washington Examiner.
HBO comedian Bill Maher joked that the military strikes should be dubbed “Operation Desert Stormy” in reference to the media-driven “scandal” surrounding an alleged affair a dozen years ago between then-businessman Trump and adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Maher also joked that Trump had waited until he received a green light on the operation from the hosts of “Fox & Friends” — the Fox News morning program the president is known to be fond of.
In a similar vein to Maddow, CNN’s vehemently anti-Trump “Republican” strategist Ana Navarro suggested the Syrian airstrikes were little more than a distraction from the impending release of fired FBI Director James Comey’s tell-all book and the FBI raid of Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s office.

This is a prime example of what has come to be known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, an affliction that will cause people to denounce or ignore things they would otherwise wholeheartedly support simply because Trump is responsible for it.
Had the exact same strikes been ordered by former President Barack Obama or under a theoretical Hillary Clinton presidency, these Trump-hating pundits wouldn’t have second-guessed the stated motives for one second. But since it was Trump who launched them, it must have been to distract from all of the “scandals” the media is obsessed over.
