Psychologist Leaves Lib Host Speechless When She Asks About Transgenders

Share

After a leftist host questioned why freedom of speech should trump the right for transgender people not to be offended, a clinical psychologist literally left her speechless.

As noted by The Daily Wire, a clip of the interview published Tuesday went viral when University of Toronto professor and clinical psychologist Jordan B. Peterson explained to British Channel 4 host Cathy Newman why someone’s right to freedom of speech is more important than someone’s “right” to not be offended.

“Why should your right to freedom of speech trump a trans person’s right not to be offended?” Newman asked, referring to whether someone should be forced to refer to transgender people by their “preferred gender pronouns.”

“Because in order to be able to think, you have to risk being offensive,” Peterson responded. “I mean, look at the conversation we’re having right now. You’re certainly willing to risk offending me in the pursuit of truth. Why should you have the right to do that? It’s been rather uncomfortable.”

“Well, I’m very glad I’ve put you on the spot,” Newman replied.

Unaware that she was treading into dangerous waters with her logic, Newman was soon put into a corner.

“Well you get my point,” Peterson continued. “You’re doing what you should do, which is digging a bit to see what the hell is going on. And that is what you should do. But you’re exercising your freedom of speech to certainly risk offending me, and that’s fine. More power to you, as far as I’m concerned.”

Completely stunned and struggling to find any sort of counterpoint, Newman stuttered as she tried to respond.

“Ha. Gotcha,” the professor playfully fired back, well-aware that he had just destroyed her entire talking point about suppressing free speech so that others are not offended.

Do you think freedom of speech should trump someone's "right" to not be offended?

“You have got me. You have got me. I’m trying to work that through my head. It took awhile. It took awhile. It took awhile,” she repeated, unable to come up with anything.

Check out a portion of the interview below where this liberal host was literally left speechless after being schooled with logic:

The full 30-minute interview can be viewed below, with the viral moment beginning around the 22-minute mark of the video. (Warning: The entire video consists of the host baiting Peterson, while he calmly responds with logic and reasoning.)

In discussing freedom of speech and his refusal to cower to the left’s demands over forced speech, Peterson said he was “not going to cede the linguistic territory to radical leftists, regardless to whether of not it was put into law.”

The way Peterson left this host speechless when discussing free speech is incredible — and the fact that it went viral so quickly indicates many, many people agree with what he said. Thank goodness for that. We need more people like Peterson standing up for freedom of speech against leftist ideologues who would take this fundamental right away.
