Parkland Father Shatters Liberal Narrative With Truth Behind Trump's White House Listening Session
Narratives matter. More specifically, realizing that the mainstream media is not being honest about reality matters — and it looks like that’s what happened with their portrayal of President Trump’s response to the Florida school tragedy.
It’s a well-worn cliche: Republicans are uncaring villains who only see dollar signs and probably twirl their mustaches, too. When the president held a White House meeting with survivors and family members of the Parkland shooting, the news media worked overtime to push that villainous and cold image.
While the media was trying hard to spin a callous portrayal of President Trump, however, family members who actually attended the “listening session” had a very different perspective.
“The father of one of the students killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School last month said on Sunday that President Trump listened to his suggestions when he traveled to the White House,” The Hill reported.
“Andrew Pollack, whose daughter, Meadow Pollack, was one of 17 people killed in the high school shooting in Parkland, Fla., said he went to the White House twice,” the outlet continued.
Without a doubt, the father of a murdered girl was in no mood for dishonesty or fake gestures from the president. When he met with Trump, what was his response?
“There’s not much anyone’s going to say that’s going to make anything better for me,” Pollack explained to CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
“But he listened to things and suggestions that I had and what we’re working on in Florida,” the father said about President Trump.
Despite the fact that the media is pushing the narrative of a distracted and uncaring president, the actual families of those involved in the Florida incident seemed to believe that Trump was genuine.
That’s a very different version than what pundits tried to get people to believe. After a photograph revealed that President Trump had prepared notes to help him during the important and sensitive meeting, he was mocked by the left.
“In a photo from the event taken by Getty Images photographer Chip Somodevilla, the President is holding a piece of White House stationery with five discussion points written in black marker,” CNN reported.
“The visible points include prompts such as ‘1. What would you most want me to know about your experience?’ ‘2. What can we do to help you feel safe?’ and ‘5. I hear you,'” the news network continued.
Leftist Twitter — but that’s redundant — attacked the president for actually taking the meeting seriously.
“Trump has to have notes that remind him to have empathy and compassion,” whined Jenna Mullins, a liberal writer with a verified Twitter account.
“Still amazed that he had to leave himself tips for acting human,” echoed Parker Molloy, a journalist formerly of Rolling Stone and The New York Times.
Or — just maybe — Trump knew that meeting with grieving and angry families would be both tough and important, and made sure to be prepared?
An executive who actually comes to meetings with detailed notes — how shocking! It was unclear if the same liberals also had a problem with Barack Obama needing a teleprompter to say anything at all.
The actual family members who met with President Trump believe that he listened and took their suggestions seriously, while the left only mocks and throws verbal tomatoes. Liberal media outlets aren’t interested in reality: They only want to push their narrative … but it’s beginning to wear thin.
