A New Jersey thug who was caught on a nanny cam brutally beating a woman three years ago finally received due justice this Wednesday when Judge Ronald Wigler sentenced him to life in prison.
“I have a responsibility to mete out a fair and just sentence, a sentence that will protect the public and the community from this extremely dangerous and violent predator who will most certainly commit other more serious crimes if ever given the opportunity to do so,” the judge said during the ruling, according to WABC.
“And I have no intention of ever letting that happen again,” he added.
To see the footage that just cost thug Shawn Custis his life, watch the video below, though be warned that it contains extremely graphic violence:
The beat down reportedly occurred during a burglary Custis committed in 2013. Instead of just taking what he wanted and leaving, the despicable man chose to attack the homeowner, who at the time was sitting on a couch in the living room with her 3-year-old daughter, just trying to watch some television.
The woman wound up suffering facial injuries and a fractured bone in her back. She also later became the victim of PTSD and continues to this day to live in a state of perpetual paranoia.
“I carry a personal alarm even when I am in the comfort of my own home,” she testified in court. “I am in my own prison. I haven’t opened a window in my house in two years.”
Thankfully, Custis must wait a minimum of 60 years to apply for parole. By then, he will be 105 years of age and perhaps already dead.
As for the victim, we can only hope she manages to one day move beyond this tragic event and rebuild her life.
