The Islamic State group has surged to the top of the terrorist world in part because of its use of modern technology and tactics. Unlike other terrorist networks, whose members preferred to hide in caves and used VHS tapes to record their messages, Islamic State group terrorists have embraced 21st century technology.
Recently, the International Business Times reported that killers with the Islamic State group used a drone to shoot footage of a man being beheaded for the crime of “insulting Allah.”
The video, which is very professional in nature, is believed to have been shot in Ramadi, the provincial capital of the Anbar province in Iraq, where the Islamic group has established a stronghold.
The young man, who is thought to be in his 20s, is brought into a town square while the drone flies overhead. The drone then moves in closer to the victim as he bends down and puts his head on the wooden plank used for beheadings.
A Shariah judge reads the sentencing in the background as the executioner lifts his sword above his head. The drone then begins to ascend, and the last scene is the victim lying in a pool of his own blood.
The Islamic State group uses these videos as a powerful recruiting tool. The beheadings of Western captives last year were part of a propaganda campaign that caused thousands to flock to join the terrorist killers.

This drone footage should be concerning for another reason — the use of a drone itself. While this drone may be something as simple as a camera strapped to a remote control plane, it should still be worrying that the Islamic State group is mastering how to control drones.
Drones could be used to increase the group’s terror tactics throughout the region. Instead of suicide bombers, the group could fly drones packed with explosives into buildings.
The terrorists could also use drones like the American military does — for surveillance of large areas to gain a tactical advantage on the battlefield.
One of the U.S. military’s biggest concerns has been a terrorist organization getting its hands on advanced drone technology. Now, it appears that’s becoming a reality.
In 2016 we need a president who will crush terrorists and stop this growing threat.
Share this on Facebook and Twitter so others are aware of ISIS’ growing capabilities.
