A Texas mother dropped her son off at a daycare facility in perfect health, but when she picked him up several hours later he had painful-looking marks all over his body.
Randi Grounds picked up her 18-month-old, Casey Gass, from the “Lil Jackets Learning Center” in Llano, Texas, and noticed that he had a bloody welt on his cheek, along with a U-shaped scab beneath his eye.
Grounds quickly examined the rest of her son’s body and found more marks and scratches on other areas of his face, neck and arms. She found a total of 10 wounds all over his body.
This had been happening for some time, but this was the worst it had ever been. Gass had been coming home from the daycare facility with a occasional cut or bruise each day.
The staff at the facility brushed off the incidents as kids being kids.
Now that it was more than simply one scratch, Grounds and her husband went the daycare center to demand answers.
“It makes you feel bad even dropping him and bringing him to the day care. It makes us feel like it’s our fault,” Grounds stated. “It’s not the kid’s fault, it’s the supervision. Apparently if he got bit 10 times in one day, then there is no supervision.”
It was revealed that Gass had been the subject of another child’s biting issue, but the delightful staff of the daycare facility didn’t seem to think this was a problem.
I bet they would feel differently if it was their kid coming home looking like he or she had just been tortured.
Childcare investigators looked into the incident, but concluded that the daycare facility wasn’t at fault for this incident. Apparently entrusting people to look after your child means they don’t have to look after your child.
The parents have since pulled their child from the daycare facility (H/T Mad World News).
Daycare centers are entrusted to look after kids and to keep them safe, not to let them acquire all sorts of awful injuries and simply shrug it off.
