Disgraced Liar McCabe Offered Jobs by Dems So He Can Collect Pension We Pay For

Share

Andrew McCabe, the disgraced former FBI deputy director who was fired two days before his official retirement due to lying under oath and unauthorized leaking to the media, is now being held up by the liberal media and elected Democrats as some sort of martyr in the anti-Trump resistance.

McCabe was fired Friday night by Attorney General Jeff Sessions for “alleged misconduct” on the recommendations of both the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility and the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General, as he is alleged to have “lacked candor” in interviews with FBI investigators and made “unauthorized disclosures” to the media — lying and leaking, which is expected to be fully revealed in the forthcoming OIG report.

Rather than dig into these allegations of wrongdoing by a top law enforcement official, the media and Democrats have largely lamented the fact that McCabe was cut loose so close to his retirement and would therefore lose the hefty taxpayer-funded pension he would have earned after 21 years with the Bureau.

Thus, according to the Washington Examiner, NBC anchor/correspondent Andrea Mitchell took to Twitter Friday night and suggested a “friendly member of Congress” hire the disgraced lawman for just long enough that he would still qualify to collect his federal pension, which has been estimated at more than $1.8 million.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it didn’t take too long before a handful of Democrats took to Twitter themselves, in effect to offer McCabe a job.

First was Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan, who tweeted Saturday morning, “Andrew call me. I could use a good two-day report on the biggest crime families in Washington, D.C.”

A short time later, Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez tweeted, “To Andrew McCabe: If you need a federal job, call me on Monday. I am serious. We have to stand up to bullies like (President Donald Trump) & (Attorney General Jeff Sessions).

Do you think being fired from a federal job should automatically revoke any accumulated pension?

However, given that McCabe’s retirement was scheduled to occur over the weekend — not to mention the fact that he was fired for cause — getting hired on Monday may not have the desired effect of saving his pension … but then again, Democrats don’t always think their plans through to a conclusion.

McCabe also received a job offer via Twitter Saturday afternoon from Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who on Friday characterized his termination as a “vicious and terrible thing to do” and part of a “purging” by Trump of people who refuse to place his politics ahead of the American people.

Raskin tweeted Saturday, “Andrew McCabe: I have the need to hire a Special Senior Staff Attorney to help me with my work on the House Judiciary Committee dealing with threats to the Constitution and the rule of law in America. You’re perfect for the job. DM me.”

(You have to wonder how serious these offers even are, given that they were made on Twitter. I’m sure these folks could get in touch with McCabe privately if they really wanted to do so. This looks like virtue signaling to me. — Ed. note)

As stated, it is unclear if McCabe’s pension could be saved by his being hired temporarily by one of these Democrats, as he was fired for cause and quite possibly will face criminal charges in the future once the OIG report is released and the full breadth of his corruption, partisanship and wrongdoing are exposed to the public.

That said, should one of these Democrats actually attempt to hire McCabe to save his pension, that act will no doubt serve as fodder for ad campaigns by his or her opponent in the midterm election, who can simply point to the blatant corruption and effort to stick it to the American taxpayer by saving the pension of a disgraced and fired former official.
