Maxine Waters' Arrogance Seeps Through... Suggests Russia Hacked Her Speech

Share

Rep. Maxine Waters has certainly made a lot of waves during the Trump administration. And she’s done it by dishing out a whole lot of crazy.

It would be impossible to summarize Waters’s greatest hits of twaddle over the past 12 months, but suffice it to say Ms. Reclaiming Her Time is at it again. This time, she says that Russia hacked a speech she was giving on the House floor.

“They absolutely hacked our Democratic National Committee,” she said during a recent town hall meeting in her district.

“RT, which is Russian television, absolutely interfered with a speech of mine on the floor of Congress and blacked me out for ten minutes,” Waters told constituents. “They don’t play. They mean business.”

The incident occurred, according to The New York Times, on Jan. 12. During a speech on the importance of the Securities and Exchange Commission on C-SPAN, the online broadcast was interrupted by RT, the Russian-sponsored television network.

While The Times noted that “(s)ome on social media immediately assumed that the interruption, which lasted about 10 minutes, had nefarious implications,” the network itself said that a technical error was to blame. Indeed, their television stream remained on, and if you’re watching a C-SPAN online stream during a Maxine Waters speech it’s time to go into political detox.

“On Thursday afternoon one of our online feeds which was carrying C-SPAN’s live House telecast was briefly interrupted by a signal carrying the RT network (which we regularly monitor, along with many other news feeds),” the network wrote in a statement.

Do you think that Maxine Waters was hacked by the Russians?

“This did not affect C-SPAN’s television broadcast of the House. We don’t believe that we were hacked.

“Instead our initial investigation suggests that this was caused by an internal routing error. We take our network security very seriously and will continue with a deeper investigation, which may take some time.

“If we learn anything different as a result of this investigation, we will have a further public statement.”

Personally, I think if the Russians were looking to undermine the Democrats, the last thing they would have done is to stop a Maxine Waters speech. In fact, the best way to ensure that the Republicans keep control of every facet of government is to broadcast Maxine Waters on a 24/7 loop.

It’s not like they don’t have a channel to do it on; they have RT, after all. If they truly wanted to use it for non-stop pro-Trump propaganda, they’d long ago have wiped out their low-rent news coverage and their weird Alex Jones-lite stoner conspiracy theory programming and just gone to an all-Maxine, all-the-time format.

They could play her speeches in full. They could have a DJ remix her weird catchphrases into a 120bpm club-banger. They could have a show dedicated to snippets of her greatest hits, like saying John Conyers has “done a great deal to protect women” after it came out he’d been the subject of multiple sexual harassment lawsuits, or the time that she admitted Democrats would basically impeach Trump if given the chance no matter whether he’d committed a crime or not. They could air a one-hour loop of her saying the word “impeachment,” each time a different instance.

Trust us, Rep. Waters. If Russia really wanted to hurt the Democrats, they’d leave you alone. You’ve already done enough damage to the party as it is. Why stop the action?
