In yet another terrifying terrorist attack linked to Syria, a man is in custody after slashing one man’s throat with a box cutter and injuring two others.
According to the U.K. Daily Mail, the suspect yelled “This is for Syria!” before attacking people at a London Underground station Saturday night. While he told people that “all your blood will be spilled,” no fatalities were immediately reported.
The attacker slashed one victim’s throat, then threatened other passengers. Police officers who arrived at the scene confronted the man. After unsuccessfully trying to get him to drop his weapon, they were forced to use a stun gun on the man for several minutes before he was finally subdued.
The Counter-Terrorism Command of London’s Metropolitan Police said authorities are treating the incident as terrorism — like the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris, and the San Bernardino, California, attack last week.
“Police were called at 19:06hrs on Saturday, 5 December, to reports of a stabbing at Leytonstone underground station. The male suspect was reportedly threatening other people with a knife,” a statement from Scotland Yard read.
“Met officers attended the scene. A man was arrested at 19:14hrs and taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody. A Taser was discharged by one of the Met officers.
“Officers from British Transport Police are now dealing with the incident at the scene. We are aware of one man having sustained serious stab injuries. We await details of any other injuries.”
Peter Whittle, London mayoral candidate for the anti-immigration U.K. Independence Party, told Breitbart that the attack should be a wake-up call for the people of the United Kingdom.
“It is shocking and terrible to witness such an apparently random attack as this on the streets of London,” Whittle said.
“If, as has been reported, the attacker cried ‘this is for Syria’ before seriously injuring a member of the public, it is a matter of the gravest concern.”
There’s no word yet on what, if any, extremist links the terrorist in question had. However, it was noted that the nearby Masjid-al-Tawhid mosque has been investigated for extremist links in the past.
