During a concert at the Gretna Heritage Festival in Gretna, Louisiana, on Saturday night, rock band KISS stopped the concert and did something every patriotic American will love.

The band led the crowd in the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

The Times-Picayune reported that the group had just performed “(I Wanna) Rock and Roll All Nite” when frontman Paul Stanley turned patriotic, telling the crowd that it is “always cool to love your country.”

Stanley congratulated Army Major Steve Roberts for his 30-plus years of military service, The Times reported.

The rocker then led the audience in the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

After the pledge, Stanley said, “God bless America! God bless our troops!” to a cheering crowd. Take a look:

Leading the audience in the Pledge isn’t anything new. KISS has made the pledge a staple of most of their shows for over a year.

The patriotic band has always shown an appreciation for veterans in the past. The band has partnered with veterans groups Hiring Our Heroes and the Veteran Tickets Foundation to honor members of the National Guard and military reserve forces.

Fox News reported that last year during the band’s “Freedom to Rock” tour, Stanley told a crowd, “A lot of times people that are born free think that freedom is free and it’s not. Freedom is only free because there are people willing to sacrifice to keep us free.”

We couldn’t have said it better.

At a time when so many people are choosing to disrespect the flag, it is good to see that some people still understand what the flag stands for and will take a moment to respect it.
