Audience Thrilled After Kimmel Starts Lecturing About Sexual Harassment, Yet Forgets His Sick Past

Lachrymose late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Oscars for the second year in a row this past Sunday. This year was more difficult than last for the host, since it was the first Oscars of the post-Harvey Weinstein era. Something needed to be said about sexual harassment and assault in the Hollywood milieu.

And who better to say it than the former host of “The Man Show?”

Kimmel’s lecture came during his opening monologue, where he told the audience that “(w)hat’s happening with Harvey and what’s happening all over is long overdue and we can’t let bad behavior slide anymore.”

“The world is watching us and we need to set an example,” he added, according to The Daily Caller.

The example he said Hollywood should emulate? The Oscar award itself.

“Oscar is the most beloved and respected man in Hollywood and there’s a very good reason why,” Kimmel told the audience. “Just look at him. Keeps his hands where you can see them. Never says a rude word. And most importantly, no penis at all.”

“He’s literally a statue of limitations and that’s the kind of man we need more of in town,” he continued. “Here’s how clueless Hollywood is about women: we made a movie called ‘What Women Want’ and it starred Mel Gibson.”

Do you think Jimmy Kimmel is the wrong person to lecture America about sexual harassment?

And here’s how clueless Hollywood still is about women: The man who’s saying this is an individual who cut his teeth in the industry presenting a show featuring women in bikinis on trampolines at the end of every episode.

As Fox News noted, one particularly vile segment on Comedy Central’s “The Man Show,” which Kimmel co-hosted from 1999 to 2003, involved him putting an item in his pants and having random women on the street feel around on the outside until they could guess what it was.

“I’ve stuffed something in my pants, and you’re allowed to feel around on the outside of the pants. You’ll have 10 seconds to then guess what is in my pants,” Kimmel told one woman. “You should use two hands.”

When the same woman began to vigorously twist at the object, Kimmel laughed and said, “You’re going to make a fine wife.”

He asked another woman if she was 18 because, and I quote, “Uncle Jimmy doesn’t need to do time.” Another was told to “put her mouth on it.” Now, all of this is theoretically consensual, but the “joke,” such as it was intended, is the prima facie degradation of women.

Other skits included “Household Hints from Adult Film Stars” (in which one pornographic actress poured white wine all over a conspicuously tight white T-shirt to get out a red wine stain, noting “Make sure you get it really wet”), another segment where he asked random people on the street to show him their underwear, and a talent show with the “Juggys” (the in-house female models who would jump on the aforementioned trampolines) where one was asked to tell the difference between real people and cartoon characters from flash cards, the obvious point being that they were stupid.

All of this might be somewhat more acceptable if Kimmel had issued even a desultory blanket apology for what he did while he was hosting “The Man Show.” He has not. Instead, he’s become the sort of conscience of the left, at turns weepy and belligerent all to press his agenda.

And yet, the liberal audience seems to have been thrilled with everything he said about sexual harassment during his opening monologue, all the while likely being fully aware of Kimmel’s past. Nothing’s changed in Hollywood, and the fact that Jimmy Kimmel was back hosting the Oscars was proof of that.
