Kaep Defeated: Super Bowl Players Ring Death Knell for NFL Protests

As badly as it probably hurt former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to see it, his movement of disrespecting the national anthem was given the death knell on Super Bowl Sunday.

As noted by Breitbart, no players from the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots knelt or sat while the national anthem was played before the game.

Many Americans were very proud to see that Super Bowl players avoided controversy and stood proudly for their country.

The protests began when Kaepernick protested the national anthem during every game of the 2016 season when he played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Following the 2016 season, Kaepernick has been a free agent, given none of the 32 NFL teams have decided to sign him.

In addition to protesting the anthem and disrespecting our flag, Kaepernick has made it clear that his decision to protest the anthem was political.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in Aug. 2016 after a game.

He added: “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Are you glad everyone stood for the anthem during the Super Bowl?

Hundreds of NFL players knelt during the anthem this past season, which resulted in many patriotic Americans making it unequivocally clear they weren’t going to support a league that apparently endorsed the degradation of a national symbol.

President Donald Trump agreed, and has also taken dead aim at players who knelt during the national anthem.

During a campaign-style rally in Alabama last September, Trump suggested that NFL owners fire players who disrespect our nation’s symbol of freedom.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b***h off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’” Trump said.

“You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it,” Trump continued. “They’ll be the most popular person in this country. Because that’s a total disrespect of our heritage, a total disrespect of everything we stand for.”

More importantly, Kapernick’s little protest only worked to turn a large part of America against his narrative.

While Kaepernick and others were using their platforms to denigrate our flag and the heroes who risked it all for our freedoms, a majority of Americans stood together, unified in the belief that players stand for our flag.

As the NFL season ended on Sunday with every single player standing for the national anthem, Kaepernick’s entire movement got the surprise of a lifetime.
