Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a devastating stream of airstrikes against Islamic State group militants in Syria.
Video footage obtained by the U.K. Daily Mail reportedly showed a militant recording the very first strike committed against his forces.
While no casualties were immediately reported from this particular strike, which can be seen in its entirety below, the militant’s reaction to being bombed was telling.
He kept yelling, “Allahu Akbar!”
Perhaps he was thanking Allah for the fact that he was still alive. However, it seems more likely that he was praying to Allah to please stop the Russians from bombing him some more.
The first stream of attacks were pretty devastating themselves, given that they left the entire area covered in a thick cloud of smoke.
According to Sky News, numerous additional attacks have been carried out since the first one. The latest ones on Thursday took down an Islamic State group training camp, as well as at least 12 militants.
There are reports that Putin’s forces have also been targeting Syrian rebels allied with the United States, but according to what Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters at the U.N. Assembly in New York this week, Putin didn’t care.
“If it looks like a terrorist, if it walks like a terrorist, if it acts like a terrorist, if it fights like a terrorist, it’s a terrorist,” he said.
President Barack Obama could sure learn a thing or two about warfare from Vladimir Putin. In Obama’s mind, if it acts, fights and looks like a terrorist, it deserves to be either given refugee status or handed a nuclear bomb.
