Illegal Arrested for Threatening School Attack... Had Shotgun

Share

Illegal immigrants are just well-meaning “dreamers” who we would all love to have as neighbors — at least that’s the narrative pushed by the left and the media.

In case after case, however, illegal aliens and even Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients are ending up in handcuffs for crimes that go far beyond just crossing the border.

Add another one to that list: A DACA “dreamer” was recently arrested for allegedly threatening to commit a school shooting, just one day after the deadly tragedy in Parkland, Florida.

According to The Democrat and Chronicle newspaper in New York, 21-year-old Abigail Hernandez is facing a felony charge of making a terroristic threat. Police say she posted a menacing message from an anonymous Facebook account, but authorities were able to track her down and found that she had access to at least one shotgun.

“I’m coming tomorrow morning and I’m going to shoot all of ya b**ches,” the message reportedly declared.

“The initial threat came from an anonymous Facebook account, which our investigators had to track down and determine the author of the Facebook account,” police in Rochester, New York told the Chronicle.

Rochester Deputy Mayor Cedric Alexander told the newspaper that the threat was inspired by the tragedy that took 17 lives on Valentine’s Day.

“The threat referenced a shooting and sympathy with the school shooting in Parkland, Florida,” he explained. Alexander also confirmed that Hernandez was in the country illegally and was part of the DACA program, and she is now in federal custody.

In a twist to the situation, the illegal alien’s parents — neither of whom are American citizens — spoke out about her arrest, and are insisting that she is innocent. They’re also claiming that the woman is incapable of carrying out any attack due to her mental status.

Is deportation fair for "dreamers" who commit felonies?

“She’s not right mentally — she doesn’t pick up what people say,” Abigail Hernandez’s mother told USA Today in Spanish. “She’s very dependent on me.”

Make a note of that for a second: This alleged criminal’s mother was completely unable to answer USA Today’s questions in English. Direct quotes from her father, as you’ll see in a moment, reveal that he speaks only basic broken English. But how long have these Hispanic immigrants been living in the U.S.? At least 18 years.

“The 21-year-old woman (Abigail Hernandez) is a student at Edison Tech High School,” USA Today reported. “She came to the United States from Mexico at age 3 with her parents.” Let that sink in: In 18 years living in New York, this illegal alien’s parents were unable or unwilling to learn proper English?

“She never fight in school; she gets a nice education,” the suspect’s father, Eufracio Torres, told the national newspaper. “She always stay in my house. She’s never out in the neighborhood.”

Torres hinted that his daughter may not have realized that threatening to commit murder at a school the day after a massacre is wrong.

“You see her face on the news?” the father continued. “She’s scared. … She (must be saying to herself), ‘Oh man, what happened to me, what I did?’ But she no do nothing wrong.”

Again, these are direct quotes from USA Today of an immigrant who has been in America for 18 years and whose partner is still only able to speak Spanish. The point here is not to make fun of bad English — learning languages is hard — but rather to raise questions about why in nearly two decades, these immigrants have not assimilated to America’s culture and laws.

Combine this point with the fact that Abigail Hernandez and her non-citizen parents apparently saw “nothing wrong” with the alleged threat. Are these really the best and brightest that we want coming to America?

It may be uncomfortable for liberals to admit, but there need to be standards for people who want to immigrate to the United States. At the absolute minimum, an understanding of right versus wrong and laws versus crime would be a good place to start.

Once again, the narrative about bright-eyed dreamers who are as American as apple pie — just missing a piece of paper — has completely fallen apart.

Liberals love to declare that a new anti-gun law is worth passing if it saves “just one life.” Perhaps they could apply the same standard to illegal immigration: After all, it looks like enforcing border laws would be a positive if they stop just one criminal.
