After the terrorist attacks in Paris last week, French President Hollande stated that France was “at war” with the Islamic State group, and he wasn’t joking.
The U.K. Daily Mail reported that France is sending its only aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, to the Middle East to increase the number of bombing raids France can conduct against the Islamic State fighters.
France has been viciously pounding the Islamic State in their unofficial capital of Raqqa, Syria, after Friday’s terrorist attack.
Russia has also joined in, unleashing a massive bombing raid on the Islamic State group after the Russians concluded that a bomb brought down a Russian airliner in Egypt last month, killing over 200 passengers and crew.
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama continues to prevent our military from doing its job and destroying the Islamic State group once and for all.
Multiple videos have surfaced showing Russian and French bombing raids in Syria and the massive devastation they have been causing. According to some reports, over 100 Islamic State fighters have been killed in the bombing raids.
The relatively light number of casualties reported is likely because the Islamic terror organization had been moving fighters away from Raqqa and limiting the number of fighters in the streets. They expected the French to retaliate for Friday’s attack.
In response to French and Russian bombardments, the Islamic State group has tightened control of Raqqa and increased defenses around the city, fearing a possible ground attack.
“There is major fear in the city, especially with Daesh preventing civilians from leaving the city,” said Khaled, a Syrian activist, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group.
President Hollande has vowed that France will do whatever it takes to destroy the Islamic State group once and for all.
If only we had a president who would do that.
