Firefighters often have to go into dangerous situations to try to save people’s lives. Sometimes these situations don’t involve fires, but rather people who are contemplating suicide.
A video has re-surfaced after originally appearing in January 2014, showing what a firefighter did when he came across a situation in which a man was standing on the edge of building threatening to jump off and end his life.
It is unclear where this video was filmed. Some sources claim it was shot in Dubai, while others claim in was filmed in Saudi Arabia.
Regardless, the firefighters set up what is essentially a giant pillow underneath the man so that, should he jump, he wouldn’t die. The man still refused to come down, but unknown to him, a firefighter had sneaked up behind him.
The firefighter gave him a swift kick in the back that sent the man tumbling over the edge and onto the inflated airbag.
You can watch the video in the post below, with apologies for the language The Darwin Awards chose to use when posting it online.
It is unclear if the man was injured by his fall:

The reaction to this video has been predictably mixed. Some didn’t understand why the firefighter kicked the man off the building if he wasn’t in any danger of dying because of the inflated airbag, while others agreed with the action the firefighter took.

The firefighter obviously had to do something to get this man off the building, but kicking him down may not have been his best choice.
In some cases firefighters will push people off of a ledge if they pose a threat to the public. The U.K. Daily Mail reported that a similar situation happened when a man in China was standing on a ledge with a toddler threatening to jump.
In that case, a firefighter came from the top of the building and kicked the man back into his apartment to save the life of the toddler.
