In the wake of the politically-motivated Arlington, Virginia shooting last week, scrutiny has been focused on thinly-veiled calls for violence against conservatives and the Trump administration since the November elections.
One unfortunate flashback that’s received some going over involves someone who was on the 2016 Democrat ticket — Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine. Kaine appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in January of this year to discuss how the Democrats could go forward after the Clinton ticket was the 2016 election loser.
Among other things, Kaine seemed to call for violence against Republicans by urging liberals to “fight in the streets” in response to the loss.

The response came after “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski asked “how does the party rebuild? How do you prevent overreach in a situation like this? How do you prevent a continuation of the bubble in a situation like this, and how does the party reclaim its reach across the country while fighting these battles?”
“Well, let me talk about continuation of the bubble, Mika,” Kaine said. “This is something I’m so excited about. I saw that Howard Dean tweeted at me the other day, ‘Tim, the base is getting ahead of the leaders.’ That’s exactly backward. We are so excited that the American public is energized to speak out against the abuses of this administration … Tens of thousands of people rallied to save our health care. Then, the Women’s March that was organized at a grassroots level. Then, people coming out in protest of these orders.”
