Dem Senator Goes Rogue With Bombshell Admission About Hillary Clinton's Future in Politics
A Democrat senator facing a tough re-election fight in a deeply red state says that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can’t leave the political arena “soon enough.”
North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp dismissed Clinton during a radio interview this week in which she was asked about the former presidential candidate’s recent remarks about her loss to President Donald Trump.
“I won the places that represent two-thirds of America’s gross domestic product,” Clinton complained during an event in India.
“So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward. And his whole campaign, ‘Make America Great Again,’ was looking backwards,” she added.
Clinton also insinuated that Trump appealed to people who don’t support women, African-Americans or other racial minorities.
“You know, ‘You didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women, you know, getting jobs, you don’t want to, you know, see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are. Whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it,'” she said.
Heitkamp was asked about the comments during an interview with her brother, Joel Heitkamp, a radio host at KTFO radio station in Fargo, North Dakota.
“When does Hillary Clinton ride off into the sunset?” the host asked in the interview, which was flagged by CNN.
“I don’t know, not soon enough, I guess,” the senator responded.
“I mean, she’s bashing the middle of the country and my state again. I don’t need her to do that,” Joel Heitkamp continued.
“Yeah, I know,” said Heidi Heitkamp.
Heitkamp, who is one of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate, faces a tough re-election bid in November.
She’ll likely face off in November against either state Sen. Tom Campbell or U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer, both Republicans.
Trump handily carried North Dakota, winning 63 percent of the vote.
Clinton received 27 percent.
