CNN Has Just Gone Full Propaganda - Not Even Trying to Hide It

Share

When it comes to propaganda, it’s the full-court press.

With major mainstream media giving wall-to-wall coverage of Saturday’s “March for Our Lives” demonstration for gun control in Washington and throughout the country, Americans were being told this weekend the latest liberal cause celebre is at the top of the country’s mind.

And the master manipulators of “fake news” at CNN were leading the way.

The notoriously liberal network’s coverage of the anti-gun movement has been virtually non-stop since the shootings in February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

But a glance at its homepage on Saturday showed the choreography of outrage being taken to a new level.

The entire top was turned over to the march coverage, with pictures and texts designed to elicit maximum sympathy for the cause – and nary a mention that there are millions of American with equally valid viewpoints who aren’t supporting the demonstration’s goal of greater government control over a supposedly free people.

For CNN and its fellow travelers in the mainstream media, the image really is everything.

And the images from this screen grab early Saturday say it all:

Do you think CNN has the most biased coverage of any major network?

One is a survivor of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012. Another was paralyzed in her legs by a drive-by shooting outside her high school in Aurora, Colorado, in 2010.

And, of course, there’s one of the many now-ubiquitous pictures of young people upset by February’s mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The stories are discordant.

The Newtown and Parkland shootings were the acts of depraved madmen. The 20-year-old killer at Sandy Hook shot himself in the head as police arrived, but there’s no doubt he was insane. The 19-year-old Parkland killer is currently in custody and virtually guaranteed execution by the state of Florida.

But the story of Karina Vargas, the Aurora victim, is different. According to a Vargas profile in Westword, an alternative weekly in Denver, the man who shot her was a reputed gang member, an illegal alien who was gunning for members of a rival gang at the time. Vargas (also an illegal alien at the time of the shooting) was collateral damage.

For propaganda purposes, though, the facts themselves aren’t important. What matters is that the pimps of pain at CNN could put youthful, female faces on its homepage to maximize the emotional impact of the moment.

Honest news coverage of the issue would include dissenting voices, like, for instance, Kyle Kashuv, a Parkland survivor with no time for the gun-grabbing antics of his mugging-for-the-cameras classmates.

But honest news coverage isn’t what CNN is selling these days.

From its constant, carping criticism of the Trump White House (that sometimes ends in embarrassment for the network), to its disgracefully stage-managed “town hall” meeting about gun control and the Parkland shooting, the network has gone full propaganda for the liberal left of American politics.

But Saturday’s “March for Our Lives” coverage was way too far, even for CNN.
