CNN Goes Viral for All Wrong Reasons, Seems to Say White Is No Longer a Race

CNN seems to get themselves all in a snit when President Donald Trump calls them “very fake news.” And, too be fair, it’s not entirely accurate.

They’re not very fake. Not always, anyway. Just very wrong.

Take, for instance, the case of the Austin, Texas bomber. Obviously, the fact that there’s a serial bomber who has now claimed four lives is a tragic thing, something that deserves our utmost attention.

“For the fourth time this month, a device exploded on Austin residents. What makes Sunday night’s blast especially terrifying is that the device was left on the side of a residential road and triggered by a tripwire, police said Monday,” CNN reported.

“Investigators have found similarities between that device and three previous bombs, which were stuffed inside packages and left on residents’ doorsteps, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said.”

CNN’s coverage sounds pretty sober, level-headed and fair, at least from those two paragraphs. Then we checked their Twitter page.

Yes, apparently, white isn’t a race. Although, as Twitchy noted, they were still focusing on race even though the fact that the non-race of the latest victims ruled race out for them.

Do you watch CNN for your news?

“Police haven’t ruled out anything — including the possibility that the attacks are race-related, Manley said.

“We said from the beginning, we’re not willing to rule anything out. Because when you do, you limit your focus,” Manley said. “This changes the concerns that we had initially. Though we have still not yet ruled it out.”

Let’s make it clear that we know what CNN was saying — that is, that the attack was somehow white supremacist in nature. This is typically the focus of any sort of media coverage of a domestic terror attack, because we must always first turn toward white supremacists.

However, the wording gives a bit too much away here. Their focus isn’t on the victims — it’s on race.

It was, however, the rather ridiculous pronouncement of white as a non-race that had people calling out the Twitter fail:

Yes, to CNN, it was just garden-variety humans who were involved, which either makes it more complicated or less of a story. Possibly both. Either way, they went viral for all the wrong reasons.
