7 Years Before Calling $1,000 Bonuses "Crumbs," Pelosi Cheered Microscopic Obama Credit
While House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi calls $1,000 bonuses under the GOP tax cuts bill “crumbs,” what she said seven years ago proves how meaningless her words really are.
It was only in 2011 that Pelosi lavishly praised former former President Barack Obama’s $40 payroll tax cut, calling it a “victory for all Americans” and credited “Obama’s leadership” for the accomplishment.
“160 million Americans will continue to receive their payroll tax cut — nearly $40 per paycheck in the pockets of the average family. I salute the work of the unified House Democratic caucus on behalf of the American people,” Pelosi said of the payroll tax cut in 2011, according to the Daily Caller.
Her comments then starkly contrast with what she’s saying now about the Trump tax cut that’s letting Americans keep more of their hard-earned money.
Pelosi now believes that hundreds of companies giving out $1,000 bonuses to their employees as a direct result of the GOP tax cuts is nothing more than “crumbs.”
Further proving how out of touch she is with the Americans she claims to represent, Pelosi called these bonuses “pathetic” last week when asked about companies giving their employees pay increases and bonus checks.
“A number of bonuses – one of the bonuses was in a union contract and then they added a little more money to that,” Pelosi said.
She added: “In terms of the bonus that corporate America receives versus the crumbs they are giving to workers to put the schmooze on — it’s so pathetic.”
Since President Donald Trump signed the tax cuts bill into law in December, more than two million American workers have received bonuses and/or a pay raise.
And it is only going to get better, given the tax cuts will officially kick in and be reflective in pay checks this month.
While Pelosi praised Obama’s leadership for getting Americans $40, Trump’s tax bill resulted in $1,000 bonuses, pay increases, a majority of Americans keeping more of their own money, our economy booming, and millions of new jobs coming back to America.
If getting a $1,000 bonus is a “crumb,” then what would Pelosi call the $40 Obama gave Americans?
If “Obama’s leadership” resulted in hard-working Americans getting an extra $40, why won’t she give Trump’s leadership credit for giving workers at least a $1,000 bonus and/or pay raise?
Given that not a single Democrat voted in favor of the GOP tax cuts bill, Pelosi is trying to downplay the significance of its impact average Americans’ lives.
But she’s not fooling anyone, and Americans can see how Pelosi’s comments prove how spoiled and out of touch this San Francisco millioniare is with the everyday Americans she claims to represent.
