There are some terrible individuals in this world who do terrifying things to other people, and this latest story from a small town in Germany only confirms that assertion in a most horrifying way.
According to Fox News, pedestrians walking through the town of Hamelin (or Hameln) Sunday night discovered the body of a severely injured woman missing most of her skin and bleeding profusely.
It quickly became evident that the woman had been dragged through the streets of the town by a noose tied around her neck and attached to the rear of a vehicle — miraculously coming detached at some point — driven by a man with whom she was believed to have had an ongoing, on-again/off-again relationship.
DW reported that the 28-year-old woman of mixed German and Kurdish descent was rushed to a nearby hospital and then transferred to a larger hospital in Hanover, where she was placed in a medically induced coma to facilitate the specialized medical care she needed.
A 38-year-old man believed to also be of mixed Germanic and Kurdish or Turkish origin turned himself in to the police shortly after the woman was discovered and was subsequently placed under arrest. He faced a charge of attempted murder.
The U.K. Express also reported that police believed the woman sustained other injuries not caused by being dragged through the streets, but would neither confirm nor deny that those wounds were from a knife used prior to the torture she endured at the end of a rope.
Police did describe the brutal act as nothing short of “heinous,” and strongly believed that it was a sadistic “act of revenge,” judging by statements from the alleged perpetrator, though they did not divulge any further information regarding that presumption.
Hopefully justice will be served for this poor woman in some way, and her tormentor held to account for his despicable actions.
