We recently celebrated International Women’s Day, and the hashtags and photos were spread by the millions. However this sick photo shows what it looks like to celebrate the holiday as a Muslim woman, and it ain’t pretty.
A little background first: International Women’s Day used to be called International Women’s Working Day and was first held as a socialist event in 1909. It was celebrating women’s suffrage back then and now has expanded to include, “general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women for their economic, political, and social achievements.”
This celebration, which occurs on March 8 every year, has spread across the globe since its inception, and now it is usually devoid of any political attitude but rather a celebration and love for women all around the world by both women and men.
In America, the hashtag trended wildly and selfies did flow.

However, across the world, some women don’t get the chance to be as wild and free with their celebration. In fact, this has to be the sickest photo ever tweeted on a International Women’s Day celebration.
The photo depicted several women, in full burkas, with one man holding a sword at one of the women’s necks.
In this disturbing photo, the caption read: “These women appreciate this hashtag and the sentiment. They send their regards. #InternationalWomensDay”
The photo reminds us that there is more work to be done. These women should not be treated like cattle and sex slaves and the Muslim patriarchs who treat them as such need to be brought to justice.
As do the liberals who support them.
