A woman in Thailand heard some unusual sounds coming from a pile of leaves beneath a tree while she was out walking. Her curiosity got the best of her and she decided to investigate the noises.
Kachit Krongyut, 53, said she was taking her six cows out to eat grass in a field in the Wangyai district of Khon Kaen in February when she first heard the sounds. The ground where the sounds were coming from looked dug up, so Krfongyut moved some of the dirt around. The first thing she saw was shocking — it was a tiny foot.
Realizing she had discovered a baby, Krfongyut called her family to help her get the baby to safety.
“At first, I thought someone buried their pets alive, but then I saw a foot. I tried to control myself and called for help. The baby was buried with its face facing down,” Krfongyut told Coconuts Media.
The little boy had been stabbed 14 times and then dumped face-down in a hole.
Doctors at the Wangyai district hospital said the baby said some of the knife wounds had punctured the baby’s lungs.
Authorities were attempting to track down the baby’s parents by footprints and tire tracks left behind at the scene of the crime.
This story hads a happy ending, however.
The little boy, who has yet to be named, survived the attack and was doing surprisingly well.
Such a cute little baby, and his incredible survival is nothing short of a miracle. We hope authorities eventually find who was responsible for assaulting and almost murdering him.
Thailand has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in Southeast Asia, where abortions are illegal, and it is possible the mother was a teenager.
We are glad this baby survived such a brutal and heartless attack.
