Speaking during a service at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in California this weekend, only days after the devastating murder of five police officers in Dallas, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice recited a potent public prayer to God about why America must turn toward God again.
“As a nation and as a people, we need to race again toward you, into the embrace of your loving arms,” she prayed, according to TheBlaze. “Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for guidance, we pray for wisdom for our leaders, and we pray that each and every one of us will leave this place justified by faith and secure and confident in your deep, deep love for us.”
She also spoke of how bigotry, hatred and intolerance “still lingers today” and keeps so many Americans divided.

“But dear Heavenly Father, that is not the future we want for our country,” she continued. “We do not want that division to continue to shadow our future, or the future of our children or our grandchildren. And so we turn to you. We know that there are no easy answers, but the answers will come through you.”
You can watch her prayer here.
Compare these compelling words with the self-absorbed ones President Barack Obama spewed during the memorial in Dallas on Tuesday for the five officers killed during last week’s attack.

“I’m here to insist that we are not as divided as we seem,” he said. “And I know that because I know America. I know how far we’ve come against impossible odds. I know we’ll make it because of what I’ve experienced in my own life. What I’ve seen of this country and its people, their goodness and decency as president of the United States.”
He referred to himself or his family at least 45 times during a speech that was supposed to be about the five officers who died at the hands of a racist murderer. He also flat-out denied the division present in America, i.e., the division that he himself helped foster.
Basically, Rice acknowledges this division and believes the answer lies in God, whereas Obama denies it and believes any and all answers lie with him.
