For the past few weeks, Iraqi forces have been battling Islamic State group terrorists in the Iraqi city of Fallujah, trying to wrest control of the city from the terror group.
Last week Iraqi forces announced that they had liberated the city and that Islamic State group fighters were fleeing the city. On Wednesday, it was announced that an airstrike by the coalition of nations fighting the Islamic State group had killed hundreds of fighters.
That was the most consequential airstrike against the Islamic State group to date. The exceptionally high body count from the airstrike was because the planes targeted the convoys of fighters leaving Fallujah.
Footage of the airstrike showed the trucks and cars streaming down a roadway when all hell started to rain down on them as coalition planes fire missiles at them.
One video showed the trucks exploding, while another video actually showed the various aircraft firing missiles and other ordinance at the convoy.
It’s a beautiful sight to watch all those terrorists be blown up.
Though some estimates put the number of dead fighters around 250, that still is a very small number when you consider that most estimates show the Islamic State group has over 10,000 fighters in the Middle East, not to mention the thousands of followers all around the globe.
The Obama administration likes to tout airstrikes like this one as proof that the United States, and her allies, are effectively fighting back against the terror group.
However the past few weeks have seen all corners of the world, from Orlando to Istanbul to Bangladesh, shaken by brutal acts of terror. Clearly our current tactics aren’t doing enough to stop the terrorists.
Killing 250 Islamic State group fighters is great, but we need to be doing that on a daily basis. We need to be sending everything we have to wipe that terror group off the face of the earth once and for all.
