A woman in Gwinnett County, Georgia, just provided one of the best real-life examples of how the Second Amendment saves lives. On Friday, the right to bear arms saved hers from three armed intruders who kicked in the door of the home where she was staying.
WSB-TV reported that the woman, a local restaurant manager, was staying with a housemate at the Spring Drive residence for work-related reasons when the home invasion occurred. On Friday at around 4 a.m., three men kicked in the door and crossed the threshold.
Surveillance video from the home showed the woman burst from her bedroom and fire her weapon at the intruders. One man ran through a glass door in retreat and another died in the driveway from his injuries.
Take a look:
As Cpl. Deon Washington of the Gwinnett County Police Department explained to WSB: “She exercised her right to defend her livelihood and property.”
The video showed the aftermath of the break-in, with a housemate consoling the woman and gently retrieving the gun from her after the ordeal.
The video footage may well be crucial in finding the surviving suspects, who were caught on camera without anything covering their faces.
“It’s not common that we receive this caliber of surveillance video showing the crime unfold, an actual home invasion,” Washington said. “They’re not wearing anything on their faces, so we’re highly anticipating someone watching the evening newscast will recognize these people.”
According to police, the armed intruders were looking for cash when they broke into the home, but instead they found an armed woman ready to protect herself.
Police have asked the public to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department if they know anything. Hopefully the intruders — aside from the one who died on the pavement, of course — will be brought to justice so they can’t do this to anyone else.
Thank God the woman was ready and able to exercise her Second Amendment right — and perhaps the next piece of garbage might think twice before barging into a home. An armed resident may be there, ready and able to protect his or her person, family and property.
Please share this remarkable video to remind everyone of the immense value of our Second Amendment right.
