The United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, an international gun control agreement, has surpassed the 50-nation threshold of ratification and can now begin to implement and take action on certain provisions of the treaty, according to Townhall.
Although a majority of the Senate rejected the treaty and have refused to ratify it, that didn’t stop Secretary of State John Kerry from signing it last year, making us a “signatory” and party to some aspects of the treaty.
President Obama has expressed his support for the massive gun control measure, which is more than a little troublesome, considering that Obama believes U.N. treaties trump the U.S. Constitution, which is the exact opposite of the truth.

This is frightening to those of us who believe in the sovereignty of the United States and cherish our Second Amendment-protected natural right to keep and bear arms, a right the United Nations flatly rejects.
A “signatory” to the gun control treaty, the U.S. is now “obligated” to not do anything running contrary to provisions in the treaty. Additionally, the U.S. is expected to cooperate with the efforts of ratifying nations in implementing the treaty.
This is concerning, because the treaty calls for nationwide registration of civilian-owned firearms and places severe restrictions on the type and number of firearms, and even ammunition, that civilians can own.

Even though the U.S. has not ratified the treaty, many of those that have are nations the U.S. conducts trade with, and restrictions on the international arms trade will certainly affect buyers and sellers of foreign firearms products and ammunition.
Another worry is that Obama will bypass Congress, as he has a tendency to do, and try to implement some of the treaty provisions in the U.S. through regulatory means, particularly through the ATF or the State Department.
This must not be allowed to happen. The Senate must take a more proactive stance against the treaty, and in addition to refusing to ratify it also pass a resolution specifically prohibiting any federal agency from implementing any part of it. The House of Representatives should do the same.
Furthermore, both houses should add specific language to these resolutions holding any federal agent, up to and including the President, responsible and accountable for their actions if they enact parts of the treaty in blatant disregard of Congress.

A little fun fact: Under the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty, Operation Fast and Furious (the administration’s scandalous gun running that helped arm Mexican cartels) would be an international crime, as would Obama’s clandestine efforts to arm the Libyan and Syrian rebels.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter if you 100% oppose to the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty, which is an international gun control agreement, and will resist any and all efforts at implementation and enforcement.
