Donald Trump has consistently railed against big money in politics and special interest groups. As a self-proclaimed “outsider,” Trump has benefited by attacking the parts of Washington that everyone hates.
Trump may now be benefiting from the Washington establishment, as a group of top D.C. lobbyists were planning on holding a massive fundraiser for Trump.
J.M. Burkman & Associates was hoping to raise at least $200 million over the next few months in a sign that D.C. politicians and lobbyists may be warming up to the Trump campaign, Breitbart reported.

The event was set to be held on June 10 in Arlington, Virginia.
Trump has not commented on this fundraiser yet, but if he accepts the money if will be difficult for him to talk any longer about how he is self-funding his campaign, which till now has been one of his key issues.
“The Lobbyists for Trump event will incorporate all major DC lobbyists and public relations consultants in planning a fundraising attack for the Trump campaign in preparation of the upcoming general election,” read a press release from the fundraising campaign.

Trump has stated repeatedly that by self-finding his campaign he has guaranteed that he isn’t beholden to anyone on Wall Street or the D.C. establishment, something that his supporters thoroughly appreciate.
However, Trump has previously indicated that, should he actually make it to the general election, he would consider accepting donations from people simply due to the high costs of running in the general election.
Trump would be going against the Clinton machine, which has more money than it knows what to do with. If Trump is going to defeat Clinton, he’ll need all the help he can get.
Crooked Hillary Clinton is spending a fortune on ads against me. I am the one person she doesn't want to run against. Will be such fun!

It will be interesting to see if Donald Trump accepts this money, or if he rejects it and continues to stick to his line about not being beholden to the special interests and Washington establishment.
