A Sheffield, England, woman decided she wasn’t going to be a victim and was ready when a sex fiend attacked her.
The woman, who was aware she was being followed for about a mile, called her boyfriend and told him what was happening in the early hours of Nov. 1. She then placed her keys in her hand and prepared to use them as a weapon as she feared the worse, according to the U.K. Mirror.
Johnathon Holmes, 35, jumped her and drug her to the bushes where he told her, “You’re going to enjoy this.”
When he shoved his tongue in her mouth, she bit it and then proceeded to punch him in the face and neck with her keys. She also punched him in the stomach and beat him up so badly he ran away. Not bad for a woman standing only 5-foot-four.
Police were able to track down Holmes, who claimed he had no recollection of his violent attack because he was drunk.
In court, the victim told the judge she “believed without a doubt he was going to rape me. My life would have been over, he might as well have killed me right there. I was so terrified but so angry.”
Holmes’ lawyer said the attack was “completely out of character” for his client and also said “he can’t say why he acted as he did.”
However, video footage showed Holmes targeting lone women and following them on the night he met his match in one who decided to fight back.
Holmes was sentenced to jail for four-and-a-half years for his vicious attack.
Hopefully Holmes learned a lesson from his attack. Women can also learn from this woman that using something like a set of keys as a weapon can help fend off an attacker.
