Limbaugh Calls out the 3 Insiders Blocking the GOP Right Now

Share

When conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh learned Tuesday afternoon that three Republican women intended to vote against the clean repeal of Obamacare, he let loose with scorching diatribe, arguing that all three ostensibly GOP senators are nothing but unrepentant leftists in disguise.

“Now we find out the Republican caucus in the Senate is infected with essentially leftist members,” Limbaugh said, referring to Maine Sen. Susan Collins, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski and West Virginia Sen. Shelly Moore Capito.

“Collins, Murkowski, Capito — these three female leftists in the Republican caucus are running the Senate, not Mitch McConnell,” he continued. “Mitch McConnell is not running the Senate. These three women are running the Senate. The conservative Republicans in the Senate are not running the Senate. Three liberal women who call themselves Republicans are running the Senate.”

He was right. By pulling their votes, these three women made it impossible for the Senate majority leader to pass a clean Obamacare repeal bill. They also signaled that they oppose President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Following the collapse Monday evening of the Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act due to a lack of votes, both the president and McConnell agreed that it was finally time to pursue the clean repeal of Obamacare.

Yet less than 24 hours after their mutual announcements, Collins, Murkowski and Capito issued their own announcements revealing that they intended to vote against a clean repeal; and this despite Murkowski and Capito having both voted for a full repeal two years ago.

These facts lend themselves toward a great question asked by Bill Mitchell: Why do these three even identify themselves as Republicans?

“I did not come to Washington to hurt people,” Capito said in a statement Tuesday in defense of her decision, ignoring the evidence showing that Americans have already been hurt because of Obamacare.

“I have serious concerns about how we continue to provide affordable care to those who have benefited from West Virginia’s decision to expand Medicaid, especially in light of the growing opioid crisis,” she added. “All of the Senate health care discussion drafts have failed to address these concerns adequately.”

Keep in mind that the repeal bill being pursued by McConnell would allow Congress two full years to piece together a replacement plan. But Capito didn’t care, and why would she? As Limbaugh correctly noted, politicians like her see “the world through the eyes of the left.”

“They don’t see it through the prism of their own principles and beliefs. They see the world through the eyes of the left. They see the media criticism that will be forthcoming. They see the newspaper headlines. They see what’s gonna be said about them on CNN and New York Times,” he said. “That’s what they see. That’s their world. They see it through the eyes of the left.”

And this explains why, when it comes to the interests and wants of the Republican base, these three senators sound a lot more like Democrats.
