A leftist writer has completely perverted the themes in the beloved Christmas movie “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” to further the liberal agenda. What he accused Rudolph and other characters in the film of is just insanely inappropriate.
Art is subjective, and the truth is that anyone can read into a story and interpret it for himself. However, some of those interpretations should be kept that way: to yourself.
Liberal writer Brian Moylan may have been dealing with some of his own sexual identity issues when he decided to read his views into the beloved 1964 classic stop-motion film and accuse Rudolph of being gay.
Not only that, he tried to convince everyone of his findings by doing an exposé on the film in a piece he wrote for Vulture titled, “The Gay Subtext of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” In the piece, Moylan broke down nearly every part of the film and tried to argue that this was a story about a young homosexual reindeer coming out of the closet.
“Rudolph is totally, absolutely, 100 percent, Neil-Patrick-Harris-French-kissing-Ricky-Martin gay. Anyone who even knows what Queer Theory is can tell you that the subtext of the narrative seems to be a pre-Stonewall contemplation of the power of coming out and embracing sexual minorities into society at large.”
Yes, he actually wrote that.
Moylan said that not only was Rudolph gay, and not accepted by Santa or his father, Donner, “who immediately hates his son’s red nose and thinks that something so different will keep him from leading a heterosexual life where he pulls Santa’s sleigh and marries a nice doe someday,” but concluded that another character, Hermey, was possibly Rudolph’s lover.
Hermey was, in Moylan’s interpretation, “the only elf with any hair, and it’s a flamboyant blond wave. He also has especially red lips, a feminine-shaped face and eyelashes any doll in Santa’s workshop would be jealous of. He speaks with a Paul Lynde cadence, as if his ascot is tied on a little too tight. He’s also signaled as different by his professional aspirations: He wants to be a dentist rather than a toy maker. “
Not only is this reading way too much into the story, but Rudolph is an animal and Hermey isn’t, so what Moylan is talking about here is now crossing over into criminal territory.
Then Moylan went deeper, saying that when the two characters meet Yukon Cornelius they are literally caught with “their a**es in the air.” He claimed that Yukon Cornelius is a special kind of homosexual, “what we would now call a bear, an older, hirsute gay man who embraces an over-the-top masculinity, despite being gay.”
This is not the first time liberals have tried to destroy Christmas. What about the joy of the Christmas spirit makes so many of them try so hard to fight against the holiday?
As the Vulture website states, their site is about devouring Culture.
They might want to try enjoying some of it, instead.
