Americans were rocked Monday morning by reports of yet another atrocity committed by an evil individual who took at least one innocent life and potentially changed the world forever for more than 10 others wounded in the incident.
According to Reuters via Yahoo, what was initially thought to be an “active shooter” situation on the Columbus campus of Ohio State University turned out to be a vehicle and knife attack instead, but remained no less disturbing than if the attacker had been armed with a gun.
The attacker drove an SUV into a crowd of people and then proceeded to hack and stab others with a large knife after exiting the vehicle, killing at least one and wounding 10 others before being shot dead by a police officer.

The assailant has now been identified by authorities as an 18-year-old OSU student named Abdul Artan, a Somali Muslim refugee whose family had lived in Pakistan for years before being granted permanent legal status in the U.S. in 2014 under the administration of President Barack Obama, per a report from NBC News.

The officer who ended the bloody rampage arrived on the scene in less than a minute and immediately engaged the attacker, OSU police chief Craig Stone said.

Though officials are reluctant to say what the killer’s motivation may have been, they did state that the attack appeared to be deliberate and planned, with Stone remarking, “This was done on purpose.”
According to Fox News, the campus was placed in lock-down for roughly 90 minutes while authorities sorted out what had just happened.
Sadly, this is not the first time a Muslim refugee granted asylum in this country has repaid the kindness and compassion shown him and his family by lashing out in a terror attack at the very people most receptive to letting individuals like him into this country.
Unfortunately, incidents like this will continue to occur so long as there is no thorough vetting of potential refugees and migrants from areas of the world known to harbor, incubate and even export radical Islamic terrorism to the rest of the globe, such as Somalia and Pakistan.

That could all change under the incoming Trump administration though, and none too soon at that.
