If you thought the “war on cops,” i.e. unprovoked violent assaults against police officers simply because they are part of law enforcement, was already pretty bad, there is a chance that it could get worse over the next several weeks.
According to KGO in San Francisco, an urgent bulletin was released nationwide on Wednesday warning of potential plots to attack both police officers on the streets and guards inside prisons during what is called “Black August.”
The bulletin was jointly issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the FBI’s National Gang Intelligence Center and the Sacramento Intelligence Unit, warning of the potential for increased violence against law enforcement during the month of August.
That threat largely emanates from a prison-based gang known as the Black Guerilla Family, with members in prisons and urban centers all across the country, who mark August as a month to honor their fallen members.
After one of their older leaders was recently killed in a prison riot little more than a week after being released from a long stint in solitary confinement, the group accused prison officials of working with the Aryan Brotherhood, a chief rival gang in the prison system, to effectuate the murder.
A source within the gang reportedly warned of the BGF’s “2 for 1 kill policy,” stating that the BGF is “going to kill correctional officers and Aryan Brotherhood gang members to send a firm message. And the attacks will occur across the country, not just in California, and will likely occur during the BGF’s memorial celebration of Black August.”
The bulletin also mentioned that the FBI’s Baltimore office reported that “BGF members reportedly discussed how they could ambush law enforcement officers who were parked in alleys or side streets.”
If that sounds somewhat familiar, recall that this same group leveled similar threats during the 2015 riots in Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody.
The bulletin also included a picture that has been circulating depicting a black gorilla quite literally eating a small pig alongside the logo of the gang, threatening symbolism if ever there were any.

To be sure, police officers and prison guards understand that they are under threat of being targeted, so this bulletin is not really anything new, just the latest “heads up” in the ongoing struggle between those who uphold law and order and those who despise it.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter so that everyone understands the current threat level that law enforcement officials and prison guards are facing at this point in time.
