A great-grandmother from Atlanta, Georgia, was brutally punched in the face several times at a grocery store by another shopper — one who was foolish enough to leave damning evidence of her identity in the victim’s mobile scooter.
The victim, identified by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as Sandra McClung, 75, accidentally bumped into another woman with her electric wheelchair.
“I thought I was safe. I’m in Walmart,” McClung told WSB-TV.
AJC reported that the attacker, identified as Alexa Venderburg, was outraged and cursed at McClung to move out of her way.
As she moved out of the way, she said something rude to Venderburg, and that’s when the assault began.
Although there was animosity between the two women, McClung believed that Venderburg must have had issues beyond the argument to cause her to react so violently.
“There had to be something wrong with her because you just don’t do that,” she told WSB-TV. “I had my glasses on and she just kept socking me in the glasses and then she socked me in my mouth because my mouth is real sore.”
She claimed that her arms were also bruised with defensive wounds.
Unfortunately for the attacker, she accidentally left her cellphone with McClung’s scooter, which is how she was identified. She was reportedly being sought by authorities.
It’s one thing to assault an elderly woman — that’s reprehensible. It’s another thing to be so unbelievably stupid that you leave incriminating evidence as to your identity with the victim.
But, whatever. We’re just glad this thug was identified and will likely be held to account for her crimes.
