U.S. intelligence officials have warned the public about a possible terror threat for Monday, Nov. 7, the day before the nation heads to the polls to vote.
Sources told CBS News Friday that intelligence officials had notified joint terrorism task forces that Al Qaeda could be planning attacks in three states.
The targeted states were believed to be New York, Texas and Virginia. Sources did not include any additional information about specific locations within those states.

The New York Police Department and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said they were keeping a watchful eye on local facilities, according to Reuters.
“We are continuing with the high level of patrols at all of our facilities that we have had in place for some time now,” said Steve Coleman of the Port Authority.
The credibility of the threat had not been confirmed. However, intelligence warned counterterrorism officials as a precaution. The source added that the threat was relatively low.

“The counterterrorism and homeland security communities remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States,” a senior FBI official told CBS.
“The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.”
Federal law enforcement was planning for several worst-case scenarios as the election nears.
Earlier in the week, local police were alerted to the notion that “polling places” could be seen as “attractive targets” for attacks.
