Christian values have been a primary concern for many conservatives when choosing the leaders of our country at the ballot box, and the upcoming presidential election will likely be no different.
Some critics of presumed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump have expressed skepticism about the candidate’s faith and relationship with Christ, and some voters have been hesitant to go all in for Trump because of the uncertainty.
However, Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, recently met with Trump at a religious forum in New York City, and he revealed a major decision Trump has made that is sure to positively impact the candidate’s image among evangelicals.

“(Trump) did accept a relationship with Christ. I know the person who led him to Christ,” Dobson told Michael Anthony of Godfactor in an interview following the evangelical event that hosted roughly 1,000 Christian leaders from across the country.
But what was most surprising was that Trump’s decision to become born again in Christ was apparently made not that long ago, according to Dobson.
“I believe he really made a commitment,” the prominent Christian leader said. “But, he’s a baby Christian. We all need to be praying for him.”

A recent decision to follow the Christian faith would explain some of the statements Trump has made that has garnered sharp criticism, such as his reference to Second Corinthians as “Two” Corinthians.
Dobson addressed those concerns, noting that fellow Christians should “cut (Trump) some slack” when it comes to speaking the Christian language. “He didn’t grow up like we did,” he said in defense of the real estate mogul.
The evangelical leader admitted that he had “great concerns” about the next election, but he seemed optimistic about Trump being the Republican nominee.
“I think there’s hope for him,” Dobson said. “And I think there’s hope for us.”

Anthony agreed, saying there was a “unity and a gentleness in this meeting that was remarkable.”
“I’ll tell you, it was something to see (Trump) on the platform,” he told Townhall. “There was like an energy, there was a palpableness in the room, a tangible sense of seriousness about what we’re here for. A seriousness about where the nation is going and a humility that was truly amazing.”
“If we can do this in a room of 1,000, I think there’s hope for the nation,” he concluded.
Whether or not Trump is a true believer in Jesus Christ is between him and the Lord, but it’s not up to us to determine that. Instead, our role is to pray for our party’s leader and ask God to guide Trump’s life and decisions.
Donald Trump is currently our nation’s best chance at saving the traditional Christian values that have brought Ameican culture this far, and a relationship with Christ and the prayers and support of Christian believers will unquestionably help give him the wisdom he will need for such a herculean task.
